Sachin Tendulkar gifts signed jersey to Virat Kohli

Many records have been broken in the current ODI World Cup 2023. Virat Kohli on Wednesday broke his ‘idol’ Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI centuries scored by a player during India’s semi-final clash against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Tendulkar ended his illustrious career with a record of 49 ODI centuries. Very few people would have imagined that someday his unrealized feat would be eclipsed. The former India captain has mentioned in several interviews that he would like one of his compatriots to break his record. 11 years after Tendulkar’s 49th century, his former teammate Virat Kohli created history by scoring a record-breaking 50th ODI century against New Zealand in the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023.

It was absolutely right that Kohli broke the magical record in the presence of Tendulkar. The Master Blaster was present at the Wankhede when Kohli raced to take his second run to reach the special three-figure mark. The Delhi batsman bowed to show his respect towards Tendulkar and gave him a standing ovation.

India is all set to play the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia on Sunday, November 19, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Ahead of the much-awaited clash, Tendulkar gifted Kohli his iconic number 10 jersey, which he wore during his last ODI.

Tendulkar and Kohli were part of the winning Indian team one day world cup in 2011. The 50-year-old will be standing in the stands at the world’s largest cricket stadium, cheering for the players in Blue. He would love to see Rohit Sharma’s team get the better of the five-time former champions in what promises to be a clash for the ages.
