India’s 10-match winning streak unfortunately ended in the summit clash of the ODI World Cup 2023 as Australia defeated Rohit Sharma’s side by six wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19. After the match, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi went to the players’ dressing room and consoled the grieving ‘Men in Blue’.
Mohammed Shami, who finished as the leading wicket-taker at the marquee event with 24 wickets in seven matches, posted a photo of the Prime Minister on social media, trying to console him in the Indian dressing room. The 33-year-old fast bowler expressed his gratitude to the Indian fans for their support throughout the tournament and the Prime Minister for their kind behavior in the dressing room.
“Unfortunately yesterday was not our day. I would like to thank all the Indians for supporting our team and me throughout the tournament. I am especially grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for coming to the dressing room and cheering us. We Will be back!” Shami wrote on his official ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) handle.

Indian fans had to see their team lose the ICC final for the fifth time in 10 years. it was a hard pill to swallow India The team was the best throughout the tournament, defeating every opponent it faced en route to the finals. In fact, in their first game in the round-robin stage, the two-time former champions defeated Australia by six wickets, but it was not to be on the night of the final. Die-hard Indian fans expressed their support for the Indian players on social media and the Prime Minister even praised them.
