India’s dream run in the ODI World Cup 2023 ended on November 19 as their first defeat in the tournament came in the final against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq gave an explosive assessment of the final, accusing India of using a “bad pitch” to help them win the crucial encounter. According to Razzaq, Australia’s six-wicket win against India in the world’s largest cricket stadium was a great result for the game.
“Cricket won and India lost! If India had won the World Cup, it would have been a very sad moment for the game. They used the conditions to their advantage and I have never seen such a bad pitch for an ICC final before. It Very good for cricket.” Analyzing the final, the 43-year-old said, “India lost.”

Rohit Sharma lost the toss as India were sent in to bat first. On a dry wicket, the Indian batsmen struggled to find their timing and were bowled out for 240. The Australian team lost three wickets inside the first powerplay, but a sensational 192-run partnership between Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne led the ‘Men in Yellow’ to victory. He was on the brink before Glenn Maxwell came out and scored the winning run. After the match, Rohit decided not to make any excuses for the defeat, but pointed out that the ball had come on the bat well under lights in the second innings.
