The move follows Cummins’ previous response to a question about England’s performances, which he hinted at joking as he commented on their struggles with a smile. Stokes offered his congratulations to the Australian team, acknowledging the competitive edge underpinned by the Australian captains’ reaction to England’s tournament run, in a subdued tone amid the banter.

After winning the toss at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Australia chose to bat first, which was initially an eyebrow-raising decision. However, it proved crucial as they quickly bowled out the Indian team for just 240 runs. Despite some early hiccups, Australia chased the target comfortably and won with 6 wickets to spare. Pat Cummins looked very happy after this Australia Won by six wickets against India in the World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Despite two early defeats to India and South Africa, the Australian team bounced back strongly. In the final encounter, he led his team to chase 241 against the Men in Blue, and won with seven overs to spare, marking a remarkable turnaround in their campaign.

β€œI think we saved our best for last. We have been batting first throughout the tournament and we thought it was a good night to chase the target. The pitch was not really spinning as much as we thought. The boys were brilliant, we’ve got an aging team and still, everyone is putting themselves out there on the pitch,” Cummins was quoted as saying at the post-match presentation ceremony.
