Australia’s David Warner likely to play 2027 ODI World Cup, dismisses speculations about his retirement

David Warner on retirement: David Warner has given a clear indication that he will be seen playing the next ODI World Cup of 2027. Warner was an important part of the winning Australian squad of the 2023 World Cup. Warner was the highest run scorer for Australia in the tournament. Meanwhile, while reacting to a post shared on Twitter, the left-handed Australian batsman made it clear that he will play the next ODI World Cup 2027.

Warner is currently 37 years old. He had said in the beginning of 2023 that the Test series against Pakistan to be played in December and January would be his last. However, Warner will continue to play in ODI cricket. In a post on X, it was written that Warner’s ODI career ended with excellent records. Responding to this post, Warner replied, “Who said that I am finished?” That is, he has given a clear indication that he will continue to play in ODI cricket and can also play the ODI World Cup 2027.

High scorer for Australia

Warner scored the most runs for Australia in the World Cup 2023. He scored 535 runs in 11 innings of 11 matches at an average of 48.64 and strike rate of 108.30, which included two centuries. His high score was 163 runs, which was made against Pakistan.

International career has been like this till now

Warner plays all three formats for Australia. So far he has played 109 Tests, 161 ODIs and 99 T20 International matches. He has scored 8487 runs in 199 innings of Test, 6932 runs in 159 innings of ODI and 2894 runs in 99 innings of T20 International. He has scored 25 centuries in Test, 22 in ODI and 1 century in T20 International.
