Richard Marles plays street cricket: Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles on Monday (November 20) interacted with young cricketers and played ‘gully’ cricket at the Arun Jaitley Stadium complex in Delhi. During this, the Australian leader offered floral tribute to former Union Minister Arun Jaitley.
Richard Marles reached Arun Jaitley Stadium, tasted street food and also made payment through Digital Payment Interface (UPI). Earlier, the Australian Deputy Prime Minister along with Foreign Minister Penny Wong visited the National War Memorial in Delhi and paid floral tributes.
According to news agency ANI, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will hold two plus two defense and foreign ministerial talks with Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles and Foreign Minister Penny Wong.
Australia’s strategic partnership with India
Earlier, Richard Marles had said that India is a top-tier security partner for Australia and our comprehensive strategic partnership directly benefits the Indo-Pacific region. He further said that this year many firsts happened in India-Australia defense relations. These include the visit of an Indian submarine to Perth and Australia’s hosting of the Malabar exercise. This shows how strong the defense and security partnership is between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Wong said that Australia wants to further strengthen its partnership with India for the benefit of the Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia and the Pacific region.
2+2 ministerial talks between India and Australia
It is noteworthy that 2 + 2 ministerial talks between India and Australia will be held in the national capital Delhi on Monday (20 November). During this, strategic, defense and security issues will be discussed in detail between the two countries.
